Career Pivoting (Day 30 of 58)
still on the road and trying to deal with crappy hotel wifi.
finally got into austin and got some real internet. back to work that requires internet connection!
ok so I sent out another peek test for the checkout flow and also ordered a nav flow test on usability hub. have to wait for those to come in so that I can finish out the “pay for items” user story.
the next thing up is… the sign up user story
the new user story is “As a user, I want to sign up for an account”. I created a survey asking if people would find it useful to use their social media accounts in order to register and purchase items at an online shop.
and surprisingly 83% of the people said they felt their privacy would be at stake. however the age range was a bit off since the age range was from 25–34 and most were females and they were all against it due to wanting to maintain privacy implications.
I sent out another survey, this time targeted at 18–24 year old demographic and the response was still against using their social media accounts to buy stuff online.
So screw adding social media login options for checkout. I’m moving ahead with just standard shipping address and billing info collection with a traditional sign in box on the side and then after checkout is complete, ask the user to create a password in order to register an account.
