No plan survives the first shot

There are two ways to build interactive things (i) the investors way — where everything is planned out, sketched out, budgets agreed, endless meetings with Producers to get it 100% right before costs are incurred moving ahead .. Basically a really great plan. (ii) the entrepreneurs way — where there is a clear vision that you work towards, where it’s made up of lots of inter-twining plans, that criss cross the globe, side step buses, pivot in the dark looking for the doorway, look to fail — and if you don’t manage it properly will end up confusing your investors so much that they call an emergency meeting to remove you!

For me the first shot was fired when we put down a VR shoot date – in film this is. called “the first day of principal photography’ – .. I’ll elaborate in that in just a tick .. cause the audience watching that battle have run over the. hill excited at the sound of louder guns blazing in a somewhat bigger battle front happening in the valley next door >>

In the midst of the VR fight I fired a shot in a different direction – & suddenly I found myself the General of an army standing somewhere inside Metal Gear Solid – this was the ‘blockchain’ battlefront …

I’d spent 6 months getting ready for Cannes Film Festival – I desperately wanted my VR film ‘Dream Channel’ to be the toast of the VR Cinema there . How that happened is the story of the other battle – but it was that that lead me to the Metal Gear. battle field & to the moment where the blockchain battle plan was rolled out and the declaration of war was made .

After Cannes myself and Brian Cobb (my film producer ) headed through Paris (remind me to elaborate on Paris Vr Park ) where he was meeting with Black Pills about a Cannibal Aussie Outback Series now in play (yet another story thread ) … from Paris we headed to. >> LA for a v interesting meeting with WME (William Morris Entertainment ) . For anyone who needs a reminder , this is the talent agency that Ari Gold runs in ____\\\\ Of course they have a VR division there ! And of course there’s only one guy who gets VR enough to run it in the whole of LA – this guy Geoffrey Geller . Arriving there I was happy to see that they had a a HTC Vive room ready to rock & (I’d been lugging an extra 20kilo carry bag on wheels devoted solely to VR kit on trains across Europe and if totally sucked !) all I had to do was plug in my Alienware PC and I could do my Dream Channel full platform demo . … Geoffrey sat there and watched the pitch & then got into the platform himself , teleporting around our virtual Amsterdam world. … even finding and checking out our Red Light District (#%#!!) – which I thought was hidden …

He sat there taking a cpl of huge breaths … (ok so it’s a bit too edgy – I thought) .

“Hey our business model is based on allocating virtual apartments to talent . The business model is that their apartments are the access point to a series of immersive wormholes where audiences pay a toll to go on wormhole rides inside their immersive content .

Sighs getting louder

“We believe immersion will change the way fans consume music …

One last sigh

“There are some artists you manage that we’d like to give apartments to”

Geoffrey “Dude (he says “dude”. I like this guy )

“Love the pitch, love the story world”

A beat

“But this is the wrong pitch”

(Was he waiting for someone else ??)

“You just spent 45 mins immersing me in Dream Channel . And the most important part of if you skipped over in about 5 seconds ….

Aha Aha ! Yep yep (wtf ?)

“Gaze Coin (these Aussie guys are numb skulls ) .. I’ve seen every VR pitch ,world , game ! But no-ones worked out monetisation .

(I’ve worked it out ,but it’s not as cool as being a film Director ) Ahem – I worked that part out years ago

“It’s THE thing you’ve got that no one else has even a clue about . Focus on that and only that … and when you’re ready come back and we’ll talk artists”

So I drew out my Wormhole Blaster gun and blew a hole in the side of his office that connected LA to a Metal Gear Solid battlefield – sucking us all down it … and now here I stand ;)
