Walt Disney World 2024 Summer Bucket List
Summer 2024 is shaping up to be one of the most exciting summers at Walt Disney World this decade. There’s something new to do at each of the four theme parks and the Disney Springs shopping district this summer. How many activities will you complete to make a magical summer?
1. Make a Splash with Tiana
Splash Mountain (Tiana’s Version) is opening this summer at the Magic Kingdom! Experience the most iconic log ride in a new way. Splash Mountain has been re-themed around the hit movie The Princess and the Frog. You’ll glide along the Louisiana swamps and meet a colorful cast of characters, new and familiar. You’ll still be able to take the 50 foot plunge from the top of the hill to the water below — if you dare.
The official opening date has been announced as June 28th. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is highly anticipated. Will you be one of the first to splash down?

2. Watch a Drone Show
Disney Springs is debuting a brand new night time show for the summer 2024 season. The Disney theme parks are famous for their nightly shows. However, this one will not take place at one of the four Walt Disney World theme parks, but at the Disney Springs shopping district. Disney Dreams That Soar will be a drone show with music and visual effects. Best of all, entrance to Disney Springs does not require a ticket, so you can see this show for free. Disney Dreams That Soar will run from May 24th through September 2nd, 2024.
3. Celebrate a Wild Anniversary
Summer 2024 marks the 30th anniversary of Disney’s best movie ever, The Lion King. Fittingly, this celebration will take place at Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park. There will be special character meet and greets, exclusive snacks, and limited-edition merchandise. The Lion King 30th Anniversary celebration pounces into Disney Animal Kingdom from June 10th through September 6th, 2024.

4. Talk Sing About Bruno
If you can’t get enough of Encanto, you’ll want to head to Walt Disney World in summer 2024. Along with the recent addiction of Encanto character experiences, there will be a new sing-along show coming to Epcot. ¡Celebration Encanto! will have several showings throughout the day on the brand new CommuniCore Plaza stage.
CommuniCore Plaza and CommuniCore Hall will also be new additions to Epcot in 2024. This project was announced in 2017 as part of a major update to Epcot. Unfortunately, not all of those plans came to fruition. And only a few opened on time for the Walt Disney World 50th anniversary in 2021. CommuniCore will be the finishing touch on Epcot’s makeover for this decade. CommuniCore Plaza was built to host outdoor stage shows, and it looks like ¡Celebration Encanto! will be its first. CommuniCore Hall was built to hold galleries and exhibits. Both will open on June 10th, 2024.
5. Make a Core Memory with Joy
Joy from Inside Out and Inside Out 2 will be meeting guests this summer at Pixar Place in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Joy and Sadness formerly met at Epcot Character Spot. We haven’t seen Joy in a while, and we are happy she is back. Joy will make her Hollywood Studios debut starting June 10th, 2024. And her new movie, Inside Out 2, will be in theaters June 14th.
