Hello and welcome back to Diversishelf! This week we’re bringing you what is probably a record number of titles for us so far— seems like spring is quite a popular time to release a book!

As usual, make sure to scroll all the way to the end to see this week’s recommendations from our amazing contributors, and thank you for being here, supporting our hard work!

Some of these books contain sensitive themes. Please check content warnings before purchasing and reading these titles.

We use affiliate links. This means that if you buy a book through a link we provide, we may earn a commission from Bookshop.org, whose fees support independent bookstores. This allows us to keep Diversishelf free at no cost to you, while providing some labour compensation for our team.

This week’s recommendations

Us, Et Cetera by Kit Vincent

Info & Order — US link

Tags: Sci-fi, Romance, third gender author, achillean romance

@elliott.roi.reads’s recommendation: Us, Et Cetera is a thought-provoking sci-fi with achillean romance between two AI servants. You will absolutely fall in love with the characters, especially Eke, a sweet cinnamon roll who is curious about the world and always finding joy in the little things. AI is a hot topic right now and this book provides an interesting look into what an “AI apocalypse” might look like, as well as providing an entertaining adventure story of characters beating impossible odds.

Everyone Knows I am a Haunting by Shivanee Ramlochan

Info & Order — US link & UK link

Tags: Poetry , Queer Trinidadian Poet, anti-colonial and feminist themes

@libraryoflanelle's recommendation: This truly stunning poetry collection is a speculative yet grounded journey through some heavy themes. Through a masterful blend of pain and tenderness, Shivanee explores visceral tales of anti-colonialism, ancestry, and identity. You’ll find yourself immersed in the rich exploration of Trinidadian folklore and religion. If you’re anything like me, you’ll want to have a browser tab open for deeper research as you go. This collection is deeply personal and transformative, leaving you in a contemplative and reflective space after each and every poem.
