Why You’re Wrong About Cam Newton (And His Presser)

Imagine doing an interview less than 30 minutes after the lowest point of your life (which also played out publicly). I think it’s really easy to say what Cam should’ve done when you have never been in his shoes.

I’m a person who noticed what Cam DIDN’T say or do. He didn’t blame his teammates (and with an o-line that didn’t show up, a lazy special teams, and receivers that dropped at least 4 passes that could’ve changed the game, he had PLENTY of reason to). He didn’t point fingers or go on a profanity laced tirade. He stayed for the required 3 minutes and left amidst a barrage of questions that were so repetitive, you wonder if the media was just trying to bait him into making that one controversial quote they could twist and beat into our heads for the next week. The real lesson: sometimes less is more.

And let’s not forget Peyton stormed off the field without even shaking hands after losing the SB in NOLA. We’ve seen Tom Brady walk out of an interview. Bill Belichick is disrespectfully gruff in all of his interviews, hoodie and all. Where was the outrage then? In all honesty, this is just fanning the flames of Cam haters, who are looking for any reason to kick him while he’s down. But with that level of talent at the young age of 26, I hate to tell all you Cam haters, but he’ll be back.
