How to Remove PIN from Plex

One of Plex’s security features is the ability to set up a personal identification number (PIN) to protect your Plex account. There might be situations where you want to remove the PIN from your account. We will walk you through the process of removing your Plex PIN, ensuring your account security aligns with your preferences.

Why Use a Plex PIN?

A Plex PIN is a security feature that adds an extra layer of protection to your Plex account. By setting up a PIN, you can ensure that only authorized users can access your Plex Media Server and make changes to your account settings. A Plex PIN is particularly useful in shared environments or when you want to prevent unauthorized access to your media library.

Removing PIN from Plex Account

Follow these simple steps to remove the PIN from your Plex account.

Step 1: Access Plex Web App

Open a web browser and navigate to the Plex Web App by visiting the following URL:

https://app.plex.tv

Step 2: Sign In to Your Plex Account

Click on the “Sign In” button in the top-right corner of the Plex Web App homepage. Enter your Plex account credentials (email and password) and click “Sign In” to access your account.

Step 3: Access Account Settings

Once you have signed in, click on your profile icon located in the upper-right corner of the Plex Web App. From the drop-down menu, select “Account” to access your Plex account settings.

Step 4: Navigate to the Security Section

In your Plex account settings, locate the “Security” section on the left side of the screen. Click on it to access the security settings for your Plex account.

Step 5: Remove Your PIN

In the “Security” section, you’ll find the “PIN” field, where you can view your current Plex PIN. To remove the PIN, click on the “Remove” button located next to the PIN field.

Step 6: Confirm PIN Removal

Plex will prompt you to enter your account password to confirm that you want to remove the PIN. Enter your password and click on the “Submit” button to proceed with the PIN removal.

Step 7: Save Changes

After removing the PIN, you must save the changes to your account settings. Scroll down to the bottom of the “Security” section and click on the “Save Changes” button.

Step 8: Verify PIN Removal

Once you have saved the changes, sign out of your Plex account and sign back in. You should no longer be prompted to enter your PIN when accessing your Plex Media Server or changing account settings.

You have successfully removed the PIN from your Plex account.
