Set up Jellyfin Cinema Intros: Complete Guide for Jellyfin prerolls
Jellyfin intros feature is similar to the Emby Cinema feature and works the same. We can choose if you want the intros to play before movies or shows.
Jellyfin is free and the implementation of prerolls is seamless. Unlike Plex, where there is often lagging between the preroll and the beginning of the movie, Jellyfin starts the movie instantly.
Where to get them?
The playlist below will get you started:
You can also get customized videos with your name or your home server’s name here.
Now you have the videos ready, so let’s begin.
Setting Up
- Download the Jellyfin Intros Plugin from here.
- Now you need to navigate to your plugins folder. The plugins folder is located in different locations depending on your Windows install:
%UserProfile%\AppData\Local\jellyfin\plugins
for direct installs%ProgramData%\Jellyfin\Server\plugins
for tray installs
For Linux users, the plugins folder is situated at
var/lib/jellyfin/plugins/
3. Paste the Intros folder in the plugins folder. Don’t paste the plugin directly, always make sure to put the plugin inside a folder in the plugins directory. I created an Intros folder and added the plugin .dll file inside it.
4. Start/Restart your Jellyfin server. You should see the plugin inside your dashboard now.
5. You can proceed to configure your source for the prerolls you want.
You can choose either a Local Folder or Vimeo videos as a source. Only one can be selected at a time.
Local Folder: You can choose a file or even a folder with multiple files and paste its path in the box. Make sure Jellyfin has the required permissions to access it.
Vimeo: You can add multiple Vimeo IDs separated by a comma. They will take some time to load the first time you play them. After that, they will be cached locally to avoid lagging.
That’s it. Now you will see your desired prerolls before each movie or video you have in Jellyfin!
