A couple of responses:

  1. The original article that you are responding to is not about kicking a person while he is down. It is about calling out on the bullshit he is spouting while trying to pretend that he is repentant. These, to me, are very very different.
  2. I agree with you that it does not add value to “kick a person while he is down”. But that does not mean ignoring what the person has done either. It does not mean giving the person a “Get out free” card. Actions have consequences, and someone doing wrong should face the consequences of that action.
