Deciding Which Kitchen Range Hood To Buy For Your Kitchen

There are a lot of range hoods on the Internet, with a large choice of manufacturers selling them online. It can be quite a challenge deciding the right kitchen range hood which will fit into your current kitchen decor as well as fit into the existing fixtures. If you purchase the wrong model, it could be quite a costly mistake to make.

If you already have an existing hood in your kitchen, you could probably look at the manual supplied by the manufacturer or download a manual from the manufacturer’s website. The manual will be able to tell you whether your range hood is ventless or vented. If you do not have a manual, you will have to figure out whether your hood has a ducted system that goes into the ceiling and out the house. If this is the case, you then have a vent hood. Ventless hoods extract the cooling air through a series of internal filters, which then cleans the air and blows it back into the kitchen.

Deciding on whether you want the air to be recirculated back into the kitchen or having the wind extracted outside of the house will be your first decision to make. If you choose a ventless range hood, you need to keep in mind that you will have to replace the internal filters periodically. If the filters are not returned or cleaned on a regular basis, they will clog up, and the hood will not be able to clean the air sufficiently.

You also need to keep in mind the size of the hood you will be using in the kitchen. Most hoods these days no longer have to cover the whole cooktop. You could purchase a smaller model as long as the fan motors are powerful enough to cope with the amount of cooking steam from the stove. Also, keep in mind the amount of noise the fan motor will generate when on full power.
