How to Measure AC Voltage

For the measurement purpose, we need a multimeter and a switch board as you can see in above image. Now, set the multimeter in the range where V~ is written and point it at 600. Then you will have to put the black probe in the COM terminal. Now, you must be careful in which terminal you are connecting red probe. Since you are measuring voltage, connect it to VΩmA. If you connect it to 10ADC, then say RIP to your appliance. After the setup multimeter, take probe and put it in plug of switch board. In multimeter, you’ll see some reading around 220(In India).

How to Measure DC Voltage

For the measurement purpose, we need a multimeter and a DC battery (or the DC Equipment that you want to measure). Now, set the multimeter in the range where V~ is written and point it at voltages on the dial that can be chosen, e.g. 2V, 20V, 200V, 1000V. Then you will have to put the black probe in the COM terminal. Now, you must be careful in which terminal you are connecting red probe. Since you are measuring voltage, connect it to VΩmA. After the setup multimeter, take probe and place it on the terminal of DC battery and read the multimeter reading. It may be in +ve or -ve reading according to terminal.
