A Dizzying twist to the traditional memory game!

A triple-dizzying memory game!
Look along with a 1 person play of Dizzy Memory with 12 cards!

Introduction
Dizzy Memory is Memory with a Twist: instead of trying to turn over two of the same cards, you try to turn over a matching Lizzy combination. A Lizzy combination consists of three cards, so players turn over three cards instead of two! A correct Lizzy combination can be made in different ways, which means the cards can be turned correctly in many different ways!

With Dizzy Memory you turn around 3 cards at the same time!

How is it played?
Almost the same as normal Memory! The cards are shuffled and placed face down. In turn, players turn over three cards at a time — if the combination turned over is correct, then the player may take these three cards and turn over three cards again. If the combination is incorrect, then the turn goes to the next player. In the end, the last three remaining face-down cards go to the last player or are discarded depending on their combination. The player who collects the most cards at the end wins. An alternative way to win can be if a player turns over a Special Dizzy Lizzy where all the backgrounds are gold.

Valid & invalid combinations

Correct combinations
Combinations always consist of 1 head, 1 body, and 1 tail card. A combination is correct when at least one of the following conditions is met:

  • All colours are the same
  • All colours are different
  • All patterns are the same
  • All patterns are different

If the Lizzy combination consists of three golden cards, it is a Special Dizzy Lizzy.

Special Dizzy Lizzy combinations!

Preparation

  1. The number of cards to play with is determined; this can be done with all 54 cards, but a game can also be played with fewer cards. In that case, make sure that the number of head, body, and tail cards remains the same (for a total of 12 cards, for example, four head, body, and tail cards).
  2. The cards are shuffled and placed face down.

Gameplay

  1. The first player turns over three cards. If these form a matching Lizzy combination, the player takes these cards and turns over three more cards — if it is not a matching Lizzy combination, then it is the next player’s turn.
  2. The game continues like this until the last three face-down cards are left. — The last player turns these three cards; if the last player is lucky and the three cards display a correct Lizzy, the player may take them. If the last three cards display an incorrect Lizzy, they are discarded. An alternative ending is if one of the players manages to uncover a complete Special Lizzy (all cards with golden backgrounds).
  3. If a player has laid open a Special Lizzy, then that player wins. If the game ends because all cards have been laid open, then each player counts their cards, and the player with the most cards has won.

Game rules

  • No peeking! — Players may only see cards when they are turned open.
  • Three cards at a time — Players may turn up three cards at a time.
  • Turn over — If a player does not turn up a correct Lizzy, his/her turn goes to the next player.

Alternative rule
Traditional — Each card type has two versions (for example, there are two blue heads with dots in the deck). With these, Memory can be played in the traditional way. To play with fewer cards, the matching cards will have to be selected well in advance!
