Game mode: Circle Share
Collaborate to organise all Lizzies with the same colour and pattern back together… blindly! This game mode also includes a Dizzy Dice variation!
This game is played together. It can be enjoyed with 3+ players and is best enjoyed with over six players.
Goal of the game
Work together to exchange all the cards back to all Lizzies being entirely the same colour and pattern (head, body, and tail).
Preparation
- Select as many complete Lizzies as there are players as follows:
- Select the first Lizzy (head-, body-, and tail card) with all the same colours and patterns (for example, all blue and dots).
- Now select the next Lizzy with all the same colours and patterns, the colours must be different from the previous Lizzy but, the patterns must be the same (for example, all purple and dots).
- Now select the néxt Lizzy with all the same colours and patterns, now the colour being the same as the previous Lizzy but the pattern being different (for example, all purple and stripes).
- Following the steps above, select all Lizzies to play (as many Lizzies as players). See also the image above! - Now shuffle all the Lizzy cards and give each player three random cards upside down.
- Shuffle all leftover cards into an upside-down pile on the side.
How it’s played
All players sit in a circle. They may look at their three cards, but they may not share any information about the cards in their hands with the other players. All else is free to be talked about.
Each player will now attempt to get one complete Lizzy with all the same colours and patterns in his/her hand by collaborating with the group. The group will play in rounds where they will open one random card from the upside-down pile. Each round the players of the group look at the turned card, and if they have a card in their hand that matches the pattern and/or the colour of the card that has been turned, they may choose to lay it in front of them. At the end of each round, all cards that have been laid down move one place clockwise. Now, the players that exchanged a card grab their new cards back to their hand, after which the next round starts.
Once a player has reached a completed Lizzy with all the same colours and patterns, the player may lay his/her hand open on the table for the rest to see. During the game, a player who has laid his/her hand down may always grab the hand back in his/her hand and join the exchange rounds again. This might be necessary for all players to be able to complete their Lizzies! The game is completed once all the players have laid down a complete Lizzy with all the same colours and patterns!
Dizzy Dice variation
Instead of starting each round by opening a card from an upside down pile of Dizzy Lizzy cards the players can also shake a hand with the three Dizzy Dice in it and drop one randomly. After which cards can be exchanged if they have the same pattern or colour as the picture displayed on the Dice!
Alternative ways to play
Too difficult? — Playing with younger kids? Make things more simple by taking out the random card/dice element: Give each player three random cards and have all players share one card of choice at each turn. A difference is that with this game, all players must share a card at each turn. Make things more fun by exchanging cards simultaneously; “1–2–3 share!”. Just like before, a player lays open his/her cards once he/she gathered a complete Lizzy (head, body, and tail all the same colour and pattern). And the player can also grab it back to join sharing again.
CIRCLE SMASH — The preparation is the same and the players are again seated in a circle. But now every double combination counts, not just the same colours and patterns. Also, it is now obligatory to deal: Players play in rounds and deal one card of their choice per round clockwise. ‘1–2–3 dealing’ — at the time of ‘dealing’, each player slides a card to the player on the left and receives a card from the player on the right.
Once a player has a double combination, the player goes ‘SMASH’ with the cards on top of the centre of the table. All other players quickly place their hands on top. The last 3 players (top 3 hands) each get one of the winning player’s 3 cards as a penalty card. These penalty cards remain out of their hand (for now).
The winning player may open one of his/her penalty cards and replenish his/her hand with two cards from the collective blind pile (if the winner has no penalty cards, he/she opens three new cards from the blind pile). Now the rounds resume. The last remaining player with less than 3 penalty cards wins!
