I think it’s also worth deconstructing the poor example he used of how orchestras became more gender-balanced after instituting blind auditions. In that case, it was the orchestras that systematically changed their processes for everyone. The analog to what he proposed would be if female musicians were advised to walk into auditions wearing a sack and not speaking to obscure their gender.
