This is crazy. And I’m pretty sure it’s not standard for Montessori either. What if you told the school you didn’t believe in homework? Would they kick you out? (Good riddance to them, if so!) I really like Montessori for my almost-4-yr-old but our school is v serious about following the method. They let the children choose where they want to spend their time and understand that 2-yr-olds have short attention spans and will want to bounce from activity to activity. They should be empowering him to make his own choices and express himself individually — not shaming you that he isn’t keeping up on something that is really unnecessary at this age. Worksheets at 2 is ridiculous. I hope to pick schools in my kids’ future based on the least amount of hw posssible… we will see how far we can keep it up, but I really never thought that it’d be a concern for at least a few more years!!
