Since I first started djing parties, events, school functions, etc. in the 7th grade, I became obsessed with music and ended up learning marketing techniques from an early age. At the time, I didn’t know that I was teaching myself how to market a business and how to work social media to promote a business. Because of this, I feel that my calling in life is to work with the radio stations around Atlanta.

(Me djing the CAU Basketball Game)

The main radio station I want to work for is Streetz 94.5 because I know people who work there and I feel like Streetz 94.5 is a platform for young people (18–28) can thrive. This company has continued to thrive in the past years and it continues to catch my attention every day. Recently the interview that they did with my favorite hip hop artist, Future, did great numbers and Future gave a shoutout to all of the young people in Atlanta that are trying to make it in radio because he said, “If it wasn’t for the radio, I would be as big as I am today. I have to give it up to young people”. I’m not too sure on who their social media manager is, but I believe that the radio station as a whole, (Radio One), has a social media manager that controls all of the shows. Streetz 94.5 does hire a lot of young people for internships to control their social media.

Streetz 94.5 brand voice would be described as millennial based. They have the colleges in Atlanta on lock and are at every club, party, college event in the city. They cater to the younger crowd because everyone who works for them is in their 20’s or early 30’s. On social media, they post popular news reports that young people would be interested in. For example, they recently posted Draymond Green (GSW Power Forward), speaking on the Golden State Warrior's recent play-style after losing Kevin Durant in the offseason.

They make jokes on social media like when they posted Flavor Flav’s paternity test and the caption said, “the results are in, and you ARE the Father”.

As far as strengths go, Streetz 94.5 strengths are making sure that they've heard and seen out in public. They are everywhere; they even hosted the Spelhouse 2019 Homecoming concert and the CAU Midnight Madness event. They also implemented an event called Battlegrounds, where every Wednesday they let artists from all around submit music and whichever song gets the most likes by fans, they win money. It’s probably one of the best concepts that are loved by the audience. They are very good at making sure that their faces are shown, but they can improve in some areas. Marketing news and music could be a bit better because at the end of the day they are a radio station. They host many events, but I don’t think that they make the audience care about radio and want to tune in. The best way to get people to tune in is to continue to market the radio station while creating a platform that young people can easily get to. It’s all about things being convenient nowadays, so that could be improved upon.

(SWOT Analysis for Streetz 94.5)

There are two ideas that I think will actually help out the show a lot more. The first one is the radio is dying down. You need a way to connect quickly with the young people without It being too much work. A Streetz 94.5 podcast would be the best route to go in order to reach the masses with a better outcome. The second idea is to find a different personality. We all know the regular radio personalities that every radio station has. The bubbly, the overly nice radio host who doesn’t really stand out because every radio host is like that. Streetz 94.5 has great hosts and they’re all unique, but there has to be a raw radio host for people to want to tune in and to actually listen. Examples would be Ricky Smiley, Charlamagne Tha God, Joe Budden, etc. People want to hear the real and want to be related to. I think those are the two best ways to improve the radio game for Streetz 94.5.
