Trent, I don’t know you. I’m happy to give you the benefit of the doubt. But I couldn’t help but be amused at the irony — being a target? Being harassed? Being vilified? This is the central experience of millions in this country who were the targets of the hate and bigotry at the center of Trump’s campaign. And they don’t have millions of dollars to soften the blow. They don’t have the resources or the privilege to dismiss racism and hate and misogyny as “secondary issues”. I don’t think everyone who supported Trump was a racist. I do think they had sufficient privilege to ignore the racism at the center of his campaign. It’s a matter of priorities — some people can’t afford to roll the dice on a person who traffics in fear and hate. Others can.
