Having to wrangle the Ruby ecosystem (Thin, Mongrel, Unicorn, god, monit and what have you) when there’s some Python in the stack as well (gunicorn, uWSGI, mod_wsgi, Twisted, supervisor) can be a horrifying proposition in its own right, but exacerbated greatly when any JVM gets thrown into the mix, as is wont to happen at any company doing anything at all with “Big Data”.
