I agree that Uncle Bob’s Thought Police article is obviously a response to the James Damore firing, especially since it was published within a week of the Damore article blowing up social media. And I agree that Uncle Bob’s opinions while so vague do indeed align him in defense of discrimination towards minorities of gender or other in the software industry. I think also that this should be unacceptable.
I think your article could be improved by emphasizing that the firing in Damore’s case was for violating company anti-discrimination policies not for being wrong or in disagreement, which likely would not be cause for firing at Google depending on the context and severity. It makes sense that you would not emphasize this though since it seems Uncle Bob completely ignored this fact — the main point from Uncle Bob’s original post on the Elevator operator is that he was fired for expressing disagreeable ideas, which is not the case for Damore.
