I don’t agree with this thinking at all.

You’re trying to frame this debate as Wiggins vs. Love. What I’m suggesting is that with a three-plan, Cleveland could have built a lineup with Wiggins AND Love (or any other unrestricted free agent that made sense). With a long-term plan, Lebron could have enjoyed a more competitive team by year 2, with better prospects over the remainder of his career, too. You can’t tell me that switching teams ever 3–4 years to then leave them in salary cap purgatory and no draft picks won’t be a drag on Lebron’s ultimate legacy.

2015 Unrestricted Free Agents included Marc Gasol, LaMarcus Aldridge, Kevin Love, Deandre Jordan, Brook Lopez, Dwayne Wade, Goran Dragic, Danny Green, Eric Gordon and Paul Milsap.

2016 Unrestricted Free Agents included Kevin Durant, Mike Conley, Al Hortford, Nicolas Batum, Ryan Anderson and Hassan Whiteside
