HARRY POTTER AND THE CURSED CHILD: Special Rehearsal Edition

So as a Harry Potter Freak, I was so excited when I know that the 8th story was going to be released on 31st July 2016! Like, it’s been forever till finally we got to this point. So when it is 31st July I go to a most-sophisticated-bookstore-in-Indonesia and long story short, I got it for IDR 445000, pretty expensive yet I still buy it excitedly.
Basically, this 8th story was a play that is played in Palace Theater in London, and the book I bought is the special rehearsal edition which contain script, list of play, and other little things. The play was divided into 2 parts: part 1 and part 2 (what do you expect, huh)
In Part 1 tells about mostly how life’s going on for basically everyone especially Albus Potter, Scorpius Malfoy and their parents. And it came to an end when the bravery of these 2 boys overflooded that they danger their self. And their parents should go to a battle, too, with them. While in part 2, the ‘battle’ basically start with Harry and his full team. By Full team I mean Ginny, Hermione, Ron, Draco Malfoy (surprisingly). And of course, Albus and Scorpius.
There are some basic information we should know about things happen in 19 years after Dark Lord defeated on Battle of Hogwarts, which are:
1. Harry Potter is the Head of Magical Law Enforcement, Hermione Granger is a Minister of Magic, while Ron runs a Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes, a joke shop just like what George and Fred ran.
2. Ginny Weasley was married to Harry Potter and has 3 children, James Potter, Lily Potter, and Albus Severus Potter, and (everybody knows) Hermione was married to Ron and Rose Granger-Weasley and Hugo Granger-Weasley as children.
3. Now’s Headmaster of Hogwarts is Professor McGonagall.
4. And last, it is not really true for everything I’ve mentioned. I mean, huh, just read the book.
So the story start by a full and crowded station on Albus’ First year in Hogwart, he doesn’t do the sorting hat things yet. He was afraid to be in Slytherin, a place of dark magic according to him. But he is one. So what do you think, A potter in Slytherin? Huh. And that is exactly why life gets harder to him.
This book basically tells about a topic I personally like, time travelling. And the traveler? A son of Potter, A son of Malfoy, and A family of… (I’m not going to spoiled you). What I love about this book and the story is that this story pretty much tell about how one simple thing in the past could make a great, like a total impact.
What make it a total different is JK Rowling is not the one writing this. Actually, it’s more likely a fan fiction. I mean this book is supposedly meant to be a play not a book. And to me, It less magical than Harry Potter yet more humanly, deeper character. I mean this book was totally different with the Harry Potter series. Yet I’m happy enough to read it.
What I love the most about the book (I mean beside the time-travelling-things), is how Jack Thorne reveal the character, deeper. Like I love How Snape described so sincere, how Harry is not that perfect wizard, an emotionally unstable one. How Ginny can control Harry, emotionally. And how Draco could be so mature and sincere and lovable and great. Things like that, the humanly things. That is the best thing from the book.
What about things I don’t like? I hate how Ron was described like so messy, I hate how Rose just appear like 5 seconds, huh. Small things but I just hate it.
And to end my review-like, here is a quote from the book:
“There is never a perfect answer in this messy, emotional world. Perfection is beyond the reach of humankind, beyond the reach of magic. In every shining moment of happiness is that drop of poison: the knowledge that pain will come again. Be honest to those you love, show your pain. To suffer is as human as to breathe.”-Albus Dumbledore
