The Troubled Oil Business
Amory Lovins

While oil as the de facto energy source for transportation will one day soon be challenged by disruptive technology, I would hesitate to proffer what that technology will be at this point and am even more loathe to fathom big brotheresque synergies to achieve that when it is utterly unnecessary. Efficiency and renewables will offer some respite to our over consumption of these volatile organics over the short to medium term; however they are not likely to, nor should they lead to any lasting reduction in energy used in a universe replete with massive energy sources where the only limitations we face are in our ability to dream beyond them. There is enough energy in a barrel of water to tear the world asunder should we exercise one of our greatest limitations and remain so foolish as to use such power when mastered for corruptive ends .
