The Mexican Revolution produced some romantic and heroic figures. In Mexico at the time, however, one man loomed large as the embodiment of revolutionary goals and the one leader able to take the country from strife into peace. That man was Alvaro Obregón.

Less well-known to North Americans than his contemporaries and sometime allies Emiliano Zapata and Pancho Villa, Obregón eventually formed the first stable government of post-revolutionary Mexico. Review: Very detailed and authorities. The subject was well researched. I would recommend the book to anyone doing research on Mexican History. The one area where I would liked to see more detail is the assassination attempts that were made against Obregón. Also the rumor that Obregon’s family originally came from Ireland

Review: Absolutely fascinating and equally enlightening. I have read several books on the revolution and this puts much of what I have read into perspective. The constant changing alliances and agreements takes on more clarity with this volume. I enjoyed it immensely and learned much more about the revolution. Still it comes to an end with the death of Oregon, which is expected, but the 1910 revolution seems to have been ongoing through the 1930s with the La Cristiada revolution. Well worth the price of admission.

Review: After ten years of civil war, Alvaro Obregon was the ‘last man standing.’ This is a very good book detailing Obregon’s path from before the outbreak of hostilites, when he was a small farmer in Sonora, and concludes when he takes power from Carranza and becomes President of Mexico. For anyone wanting a good grounding in the Mexican Revolution, this is a must read.

Review: in 1983 i was ist published in Irish advacate by Jim O’Connor(archie bunker-carroll O’Connor’s uncle )Obregon of Mexico(Obregon means O’Brian) he was very proud of his Irish and Indian heritage.Obregon’s story is literally too good to be true,not only did he raise a Mayo and yaqui army from the ground up his personal exploits of leadership and chrisma are phemonal-see Born to raise hell-Edward Tex O’Reilly world’s greatest soldier of fortune by Lowell Jackson Thomas.
Hall give an excellent account of his cerebal economic genius as well as combat leadership.
incrediably clowns as villa and zapata are far well know-even Anthony Quinn who’s mecican of irish decent seed unawake of Obregon I orginally was interested in Obregon as part of “wld geese” soldiers of irish decent as i had book 1926 President Obregob a world reformer by Professor Emile Dillon though techinally Obregon was not one of the Wild Geese.
Obregon was also what we’d call a Liertarian today along the Milton friedman John Stossel model.He lost his arm in combat and still was an incredilbe i armed pool player and great shot(born to raise hell)Linda B. Hall has done a great job!!!
