All leads for lawyers are not the same. Some may cost more than others, depending on the niche you’re in. Some leads may be valuable and lead you to multiple cases, while others might do the opposite. The process in getting the right leads will take some research and working with the right people to have successful leads. What it will come down to is to truly know your audience and what they are looking for when searching for a lawyer.

When determining prices for leads, this matter can get a little complicated. There are numerous factors that will determine the pricing, such as, the quality of the lead, what type of niche your firm is in, and an average of the fee is costs to close cases. What also will come into play is where your law firm is located. If you’re in a bigger city, naturally, it will cost more for your leads than a small city because of the competitive market you are in. Working with partners who know what they’re doing and work leads effectively, will be the most important during this time.

There are frequent characteristics among law firms that have success when converting leads into paying customers. Here are some key points that you should focus on when you are buying leads.

  1. Make sure your leads are exclusive to your area. It can be very difficult to convert leads when those people are pricing out lawyers in their area and you’re in a different state. That isn’t very helpful to either of you. It is also difficult for you because you are going up against law firms that are in their area. You should make sure your leads are exclusive and that no one else is using the leads that you receive. You are already in a competitive market, and this just makes it harder when multiple people are going after the same lead.
  2. Be dedicated to the leads that you get. Paid leads are not referrals, so you have to not only pay for the leads, but also work for them as well. If you are not willing to put in the work to convert these leads, then it is money and time wasted.
  3. Be prompt and on top of your leads. You should be reaching out to these leads within 10 minutes at the latest. Leads will convert successfully if they are treated with urgency. You need to be faster than your competitors if you are using PPL and they are not exclusive leads. These leads should be treated as a top priority and if they are, your conversion rate will be high.
  4. Reach out multiple times. You should have a system for how and when you reach out to these leads. If you want to convert these leads, you should work harder than those in your niche. During the first day, you should call them a few times and follow ups should be consistent. You want to be in the back of their head and remind them that you are willing to put in the time and effort to work with them.
  5. Emails should be mixed in with the calls as well. Additionally, to making the phone calls, you should be sending emails as well. Sometimes people feel better starting off an initial conversation over email before jumping on a call. The emails should be informative to the lead, but not giving away too much information. You don’t want them to make any assumptions before an introduction call.
  6. You should be tracking your leads. Keep track of each lead individually. How many leads turned into an appointment, how long it took to get an appointment, who signed up with you during the first appointment, etc.
  7. Find a lead conversion software that is user friendly and works well for your niche. You not only need the right mind-set and people to convert your leads, but also quality software to keep track of your lead conversions.

In the beginning, getting leads will be overwhelming until you find a plan that works well for you, but once you overcome that, it will be easy for you to convert these leads. You want to nurture your leads and remain consistent until you convert leads into customers. Pay attention to your audience and focus on what potential buyers need and want out of a lawyer.
