ELIGIBLE FOR MEDICARE? Here’s Medicare Made Simple!

Medicare. It’s a word that causes confusion and even becomes overwhelming for many approaching 65. The questions become: Who, What, When, Where, Why?
For you to be eligible for Medicare you must be a U.S. citizen or legal resident for five consecutive years, and 65 years old. When turning 65, your initial enrollment period for Part A and B, is the three months before, the month of, and three months following your 65th birthday.
We recommend you enroll during the three months before you turn age 65. If you wait, you’ll have a waiting period for 1 to 3 months.
If you are already receiving Social Security, you’ll automatically receive your card when turning 65. If you’re not drawing Social Security, you can enroll at your local Social Security office or register online at medicare.gov. We recommend online as it’s simple, safe and secure
Your Medicare coverage options remind you of your ABC’s and D’s.
Part A: covers inpatient hospital care plus additional services.
Part B: covers your doctor’s services and some preventive services.
Part C: Medicare Advantage Plan. The HMOs, PPOs and FFS plans
Part D: Is your Prescription drug coverage.
If you have any questions about what I have said about your Medicare costs or even about co-pays, deductibles, or coinsurance, we will be happy to explain if you give us a call.
To get your drug coverage, you purchase a drug plan from an insurance carrier. Even if you use no drugs, it’s important to buy a plan because there is a penalty if you do not enroll when you’re first eligible.
To avoid confusion, remember Medicare options are Parts, and Medicare supplement plans are Plans from A through N. The plans fill the gaps in Medicare. The most popular plans are Plan F and G. Think of Parts A and B as a slice of Swiss cheese. Why? Because Swiss cheese has holes in it. Your supplement plans cover these holes.
A frequently asked question, “When I choose my plans, will I be stuck with them.” The short answer — no!
During the annual enrollment period, which occurs between October 15th and December 7th, a new Part D drug plan can be selected. Since your formularies change each year, it’s recommended that you review your options.
You can change your Medicare supplement plan anytime you want too if you can answer the insurance company’s health questions.

Medicare coverage is very personal. It is different for every single person. That is why we do not have a massive call center that spits out one plan and says: “Hey, you need to take this program.” It is personal depending on what you want to deal with.
We have retirees who call in all the time and say “I don’t want to deal with copays, I don’t want to deal with deductibles, I don’t want to deal with any of it. I want the simplest plan in my area!”
We are an independent agency, we represent many different plans and companies. We don’t represent just one company as so many agents do! We represent multiple carriers so that we can tell you not only which plan is best, but also which carrier is best for you.
The easiest part of it all — is the application part of it. It takes about 5 or ten minutes. It’s all done over the phone. We don’t have to come into your home, sit down at your kitchen table and help you drink your coffee or tea.
No, it’s all done over the phone where you don’t even have to lift a finger to go through the application process. It is all very safe and secure.
We help you look at plans that are unique to you and your area. Whether you are new to Medicare or if you have been on Medicare for a long time. It pays to shop the market place and get a second opinion!
