Unfortunately, this is what happens when you take any position that is not far right. I am a moderate and have been harassed for my positions by the far right, but never from the left. (After I spoke out against the Confederate flag flying at our city hall, I had to take to keeping a gun nearby — never explicit threats, but enough vehemence to make you worry.)

I do hope Emily is not cowed by the backlash. As I learned when I used to umpire baseball: You may have most of the people on your side, but it’s always the ones against you who are loudest.
