The Most Important Resolution You can Make this Year: Slow Down

There aren’t enough posts or advice columns like this. I’m guessing it’s because it might be difficult to understand that pacing oneself and being mindful of the necessity of time as a payment for any achievement. Or it might not be “in” to be human — as a part of flawed assumption that those in power are somehow better than an average person. And perhaps if it becomes popular to respect time and personal health (both mental and physical) we’ll overdo it again because balance is hard.

But one thing I can undeniably agree with you Sachin Akhuri is that the rat race is on. It’s damaging a lot of my ambitious friends and colleagues. And I’m more often than I’d like I’m a part of it too. Instead of a steady, satisfactory flow of productivity it is a sprint-crash pattern. Some are extremely talented at making their sprints longer. They could last for years. Those are the ones with grey hairs in their 20s and health and human relationship problems in their 30s.

Whom are we serving, ourselves or our goals? Perhaps it’s wiser to be our own selves than that guy.
