Show all selection options if under 6
Design Better Forms

A dropdown is one of the most recognized, universal paradigms. Why choose to break that pattern even if its under 6 options? The issue I am seeing with your recommended solution is the design may suggest that I can select multiple options like Bear and Tiger, when in fact I can only select one. In the drop down option, its clear I can only select one. Also what is the reason for going horizontal when your checkbox example below suggests to go vertical for scanability? Appreciate the effort and agree with everything else but having trouble understanding this?
