Every culture has its special occasions. Religious events, birthdays or national and local celebrations are all reasons to ditch the sweats and flip-flops and replace them with more suitable attire. And what a feeling to glam it up every once in a while!

Throw on a pair of heels, don the perfect shade of lipstick, and rock a dress that makes you feel like a million bucks, and your self-esteem will soar, especially if you’d been lounging around in oversized tees, cabin fever eating away at you. This was the story of our lives during the COVID pandemic.

But some people save their favorite clothes for a special occasion. No, not just any special occasion, something better than the ordinary.

It’s got to be amazing, so out of this world, even they don’t know what it will be.

Polyester Lives Forever

Over twenty years ago, my husband and I lived in Mexico with his family. At that time, my father-in-law’s wardrobe staple was a set of button-down polyester shirts of various patterns from the 1970s. When his birthday approached, I told my husband I had the perfect gift idea — new shirts!
