Why iPhone SE is probably the best iPhone ever?

I was looking for a new phone for a while. My version till today was iPhone 5s 16GB. My first attempt to change the phone was 6m ago. I thought that I need to switch to 6s or 6s plus. I even found someone who will buy my 5s for 300 euros. But I just realised that I need to add another circa 700 euros in order to get 6s plus 64GB model. Rationality told me — dude, stop this shit. 700 euros is pretty much decent amount of money. Leave this idea, grab you old 5s and go for a week to Spain or Italy. Enjoy life!

However shit happened. Day before my trip to Amsterdam some guy in gym dropped my iPhone and during the night mobile network stopped working. Phone just stopped working as a phone.

Now I’m in a position to switch the phone. It’s a need, since I have no fully functioning phone. Nowadays it’s really hard to survive without it, especially when you’re traveling. On my way to Apple store I was reading couple of articles with comparison of 6s, 6s plus and SE. I was pretty much convinced that the phone I need- is 6s plus. Couple of reasons: new design(yeah it’s in our heads still to make society realise you have most recent one), bigger screen, 3d touch. I was hopping that with this model I will no longer need iPad. I will be able to kind of combine all that in one device. Definitely 16GB option nowadays is nothing, so all that leads to financials. The pricing was circa 1000 euros. 6s was cheaper for around 100 euros.

Money is important aspect in descision making, being lean is still part of my DNA. Marketing, society was telling me: “Get the latest and the biggest one”. However rationality was whispering: ”Validate other options”. I asked shop assistant to show me SE. That was a moment of falling in love from the first touch. I literally loved it. It’s light and handy, feels awesome when you touch it. Next steps were to validate what is inside and actually there is no so much difference comparing to 6s generation except front camera, 3d touch and new generation of touch id. And probably that is it. Once I’ve heard from that guy that the battery life in SE model is longest among any iPhone they have in store, I realised that I’m on hook. Pricing another side of that deal — it’s almost twice cheaper than 6s and 6s plus.

Think about that: for 589 euros you get 64GB model. With nearly 2 days of battery life and most sufficient and powerful hardware inside. But still keep in mind ergonomics. It is really light and handy. You can work with it only with one thumb. Screen size is 4.0 inches, which I think is optimal.

Isn’t it something which Steve was originally up to and Apple origins while building first computer as well: to build something unique, powerful and affordable. You have all that in SE model. It’s still a mobile phone even we call it smartphone and for the rest get iPad or Mac.
