Story of this picture

It was a really sunny day in winter, so I thought about just having a walk through Seefeld in Tirol. Of course I took some other pictures as well but then I saw these beautiful icicles.

The main thought was to take this picture with no background at all. But this was kind of impossible because I did not have my flash with me. So I overexposed it and used a good friend of mine to optimize it — Photoshop. This is the best way to change or manipulate pictures. I’m not a huge fan of editing photos because I think that real photography is, when the photographer does not have to change the way the picture looks like.

What’s the philosophy behind those icicles?

It’s as simple as that: They are just phenomenal. It’s mother nature who creates them and it’s a lot of physics and chemistry behind it. I mean — look at the structure and the way they got formed by wind and weather… isn’t it just great to see things like that on earth?

My goal is to take some other pictures like that to show you guys how beautiful nature can be.
