While pursuing a PhD in chemical engineering, I decided to take a graduate seminar in motivation theory. No one could understand why I was dividing my focus like that. Well, after taking the seminar, I started volunteering at a local elementary school, and soon I left the PhD program to pursue a career in education. Years later, friends asked if I regretted wasting my time studying chemical engineering in college. Absolutely not! I wouldn’t be who or where I am today without my training as an engineer.
