You may be giving women too much credit. Hypergany is likely driving women’s choice in procreational mates (to insure resources for offspring) and their sexual dalliances are more likely reflected in physical attraction. Though the qualities you mention often allow men social advancement, there are plenty of circumstances in which dishonesty and violence do as well. Regarding their dalliances, women may sleep with penniless studs, but it’s highly unlikely that they’d be chosen for long term mates. Boxers, by hitting harder, are demonstrating their superiority (albeit through the “toxic” quality of violence). Would they do so if sexual procreation and long term commitment wasn’t a reward for a successful prize-fighter? I doubt it.
