World’s Rich Get Their Own Facebook

After reading this article, I came up with three questions and answered them myself.

1: Why do you think that people would choose a social media website with paid membership, rather than a more common, free online social platforms?

Honestly, I would not choose the new social platforms with paid membership in this piece. Not enough information for making a decision about whether to pay or not. An exclusive, Internet-based club is unattractive to me. To discuss and exchange information with people having different standards is better than just chatting in a group having similar opinions. However, I am bothered with sites putting out too much many advertisements and monitoring my private information. I think I might prefer being able to choose between a standard plan or a premium plan on a traditional online social platform.

2: Would you be part of a paid online community if you had the money?

Even if I were financially able to afford a paid site, my view point would not change. If I paid to some kind of web service the same cost, a $6,000 initiation fee and a $3,000 annual membership, it would be mostly use for a travel site to have fun. I would like to attend belong to some community having similar hobbies, but dislike just exclusive clubs.

3: How important do you think social media is today? Why?

I think it’s very important. When I started my own business last year, I realized the importance of social media even more because my business meetings were conducted using online social platforms. I do not publish my e-mail address publicly on the internet, but if a person knows my real name, then they can contact me easily on Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin. In fact, after publishing articles that contain my name, I occasionally hear from strangers. In those contacts, most of them are great, but a few are not so great. Basically, I support the view that the truth about human nature is closer to the following: that humans are fundamentally good—I believe in the innate goodness of man—rather than fundamentally depraved. Since I have such an optimistic view of humanity, I really appreciate open-membership platforms.
