Wish It Were So.
All of the good things you discuss are possible. But the reference of parental concern clashes with something omitted — we earthlings are not all one big happy family. The first existential issue is use of AI/AGI for military purposes. Second is law and order. Then come all of the other problems.
The military use is huge. It is why China just announced it intends to lead the world in AI by 2020. Suffice it to say, whomever reaches the first AGI might have a breakout technology bigger than the first nuke. Of course, China (a favorite topic of yours) will be the first to show the world the law and order side of AI/AGI.
