HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO TELL YOU I DON’T WANT TO SEE STORIES FROM JON WESTENBERG
Vigilantly I click “show me fewer stories like this”. Every time one passes through my feed. It has to be more than fifteen times now. Sometimes the tab asks if I want fewer recommendations from a person, or fewer from a certain tag, but never does it ask me if I never ever want to see the headline of Jon Westenberg article ever again. I was supposed to escape this with the back-paging of Top Stories and the introduction of the “show me fewer” option.
And it’s always because of “my interests”. What interests?! Coffee? Bicycles? Science fiction? Politics? Oh, you mean white dudes giving vague life advice in order to build careers on producing social media content. That interest.
This isn’t even about Jon Westenberg. I pointedly don’t read the stuff. I don’t know if it’s good or bad, and I don’t care. Do your thing, dude.
The point is, I have no idea what Medium is taking away from my constant feedback if it thinks I want that in my feed. What data points tell it I want this stuff?
