Olympic Gold Guilt

I’m not Puerto Rican, but I grew up in the 70’s in East Harlem, otherwise known as Spanish Harlem/The Barrio. I grew up with and around the people you wrote about. People like you. I remember the music and the food. You need not feel guilty. You’ve served this country proudly, but a person should never disconnect from their culture or the nation of their parent’s birth. The island is facing hard times, and Monica Puig’s gift to them…to YOU, couldn’t have come at a better time. So let the tears flow. Look at a replay of the medal ceremony and cry AGAIN…hahaha!
