Solar Tracker
By Dorcas Bangamingi
It’s a rotating solar panel system that traps solar energy in the solar panel and then
transforms it into electricity energy when there is no electricity, it can last for 4
hours. It can move to search for the sun and it has alarming system that can provide
notify users through SMS for repair. The prototype that has been developed can only
charge phones and switch on the light.
The System is based on two axes to improve the efficiency of the photovoltaic
installation for optimized energy production. It is connected to an energy storage
system that allows for electricity production even when the sun is not shining. This
system also incorporates a monitoring device tha detects faults and verifies the
proper function in the system.
It solves the problem of low electricity production efficiency by fixed solar panels
during the day, which can lose up to 30% o ftheir efficiency.
The image illustrates the assembly of the SolarTracker.
This project has allowed me to greatly improve our skills in the energy field,
specifically in renewable energy. My project consisting of an electronic system
integrating physics concepts, required alot of effort on our part. However, thanks to
the coaching we received from our coach, we were able to overcome these challenges
and gain a thorough understanding of the subject.
This program has been a success and a source of learning for us since our selection
in to the program. We are now part of alarge family of people whom we can counton."
One of the advantages of the Track Solar device is the increase in solar energy
production compared to a fixed solar panel.
By following the movement of the sun throughout the day, the Track Solar device is
able to keep the solar panels perpendicular to the sun’s rays, which optimizes the
amount of solar energy captured. This can result in a20 to 40% increase in energy
production compared to afixed solar panel.
