Number one question we get asked every summer is ‘My pooch becomes very Lazy during summer days. It’s not because he eats much or he must be tired or not well but it’s all because the deadly heating strokes’.

As we all keep ourselves hydrate and do lot of things to stay cool in these hot summer days. Similarly, study shows that hot summer days can be deadly to our pets too unless we should protect them from heat strokes. Summer season is in fact the time when our pets are ready for outdoor games like fetching, running, hurdles, jumping etc. etc. To keep your dog cool and prevent overheating with a variety of remedies like Do not make them walk under sun, give them plenty of water, don’t leave your pet inside the car ever, Protect them against ticks and fleas, Make regular grooming of your pet as a habit, make a shady shelter with proper ventilation for your pet in your park or else keep them in air condition room, make frozen snacks for your dogs like popsicles, If your pet is a water lover don’t forget to put his/her life jacket to avoid any accidental injuries and if going for long trips can take your dog along with you with his favourite toys and a water bottle attached with a bowl. In any case consult your veterinarian regularly.

Cars can be death-traps for dogs, even with the windows open. A car can go from comfortable to oven-like in minutes, so never leave your dog alone in a car. And don’t think that a cloudy day or parking in the shade reduces the risks. The sun moves during the day and clouds can actually magnify the heat.

When it is “hot enough to fry an egg on the side walk,” it is also hot enough to burn your dog’s sensitive paw pads. Heat waves can also dehydrate a dog very quickly, so reschedule walks for the cooler times of day.
