Ev, I’m really curious about the adoption that Medium has seen of “networked” posts that you’re talking about. Maybe this post is an example of what you want it to be, where the conversation keeps going in the form of expanded responses, which never quite worked in comments on blogs but also never quite worked as blog posts unless your blog was fairly well read and people read both pieces.
The closest thing I can think of to what Medium seems to be trying to build is the idea of “blogrolls.” Back when I had a Blogspot blog, I had my friends who also published frequently listed in the sidebar of my site. We would all read each other’s stuff and engage in conversation in comments. This was pre-social media, which thanks to you and your Twitter cofounders is where a lot of that conversation now takes place.
But is it working on Medium? I love watching the product changed yall make over time and how you prioritize or deprioritise different features to see what people interact with. I’m a medium fan and writer and want to see Medium succeed.
So is it? What are the metrics you watch daily and what do you think Medium could do better?
