Please don’t think of this as a narcissistic post. But I understand that the title might mislead. That’s why I’m addressing the concern from the get-go.

I’m writing this because I think it’s so important to love yourself before you can share that love with others.

Love is like a flame, the stronger it burns, the easier it spreads. And the magical thing about fire is that it doesn’t lose its intensity as it transfers from one point to another. So don’t worry, you don’t have to love yourself any less when you feel it’s time to spread that positive energy.

But the bottom line is that it’s essential to create a strong internal flame (self-love) and keep fanning it. I do this by being mindful of my qualities and reminding myself that I’m pretty awesome (and you are too).

So off the cuff, here are 10 things I love about myself.

#1 — I am Empathetic

I feel strongly for others in a world where I’ve observed so many people who are quick to judge, demean, and put down. I consider it important to retain an open mind and to never dash another person’s hopes and aspirations.

Words matter so always think before you speak. A sentence isn’t just a sentence — it can cut, hurt, and maim. Poorly formed statements can kill a dream, even if it’s casually blurted.

I’m always empathetic and I value that quality in others because what’s in your heart matters more than anything else in this lifetime.

#2 — I am Creative

I love that my mind is a perpetually tinkering machine. I’m always thinking about the next interesting piece of content or considering an upcoming imaginative adventure — whether it’s in the form of writing, sketching, or creating quality content as a life-sized doll.

#3 — I am an Avid Reader

I’m blessed to have discovered a love for reading from a young age. My patience and dedication to literature are dear to me. They have opened doors to newfound wonders, knowledge, and relationships.

#4 — I am a Conversationalist

I can strike up a conversation with anybody (but it is up to the other party to continue that conversation!). I consider this loquacious talent an amazing ability that helps me befriend and build beautiful networks and connections.

#5 — I do not Hold Onto Grudges

It is so easy to get buried in hatred, feuds, and squabbles. As Dale Carnegie said, “When we hate our enemies, we are giving them power over us: power over our sleep, our appetites, our blood pressure, our health, and our happiness.”

I don’t believe in grudges. Disagreements abound in life but I believe in resolving issues there and then, eventually burying the hatchet. I believe that Gandhi was right: “An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.”

#6 — I’m Always Curious

I believe this quality goes hand-in-hand with my creativity. I’ll never stop learning, improving, and adapting. It applies to everything: my writing, my interpersonal skills, and yes, my craft as a doll artist.

#7 — I’m Expressive

I don’t believe in bottling up my feelings, it makes me nauseous and ill. So I’ll always find an avenue to express myself across different art forms and conversations. Being expressive is a major aspect of my identity.

#8 — I’m Spiritual

Please don’t confuse this with religion. I’m far from devout, but I believe in a higher power. I’ve felt the transcendence of an inexplicable force in many personal episodes. I love myself for having the versatility of thought to accept scientific explanations alongside abstract spiritualism. I think the synergy guides me through a more meaningful and fascinating life.

#9 — I Find Great Inspiration in Music (and sounds for that matter)

The nuances in musical tracks energise and inspire me. They’ve shown me infinite possibilities. I go beyond enjoying the melodies — transforming them into empowering tunes that shape my artistic creations.

#10 — I am a Confident Doll

I have an unbreakable confidence. I don’t bother about the negativities that others harbour or spread about me. I consider it their opinion and if it contrasts with mine, so be it. I’m here to empower others to feel the same so they’ll focus on a one-way track toward success and achievement.

There’s Always Room For Improvement

Loving yourself is important in coping with the craziness in life. Trust me, there have been countless times I wanted to just surrender to the negativities around me.

But I picked myself up each time, dusted the dirt off, and pressed on.

I hope the article inspires you to come up with 10 things that you love about yourself. You don’t have to think too hard about it. Just try to recall those times you were satisfied with yourself and you’ll find your ten entries in a jiffy.

As always, I love you for reaching the end of my write-up. I hope you continue to believe in yourself. I understand that sometimes there are many struggles and it seems impossible to fulfill your hopes and dreams.

But take heed that with self-love, you can redefine your life and become the best version of yourself. You can take it from a life-sized doll who has seen the good, the bad, and the ugly ;)
