Thanks for your analysis, it helps me to understand the point of view of a leave voter. It’s interesting that one of your reasons for voting leave was a historical precedent, the comparison to other times in history when Britain was less tied to Europe and how that influenced the prosperity of our country at the time. I’m not sure I agree with your assessment but it’s given me something to think about and I’m going to read up on this, so thank you.
I voted remain because the evidence suggests that the world is becoming increasingly globalised and countries do better when they are joined together. Britain does much better competing in a global marketplace with China, US etc when we are part of the EU, rather than out of it. I also agree with free movement of people (for myself and others) and I welcome immigrants to this country, immigrants work harder than native populations and have a lot to offer in my personal experience.
Finally, I wish the Brexit process had been as simple as you believe and that we were now out of the EU, even though I would prefer to remain. However, based on the last 3 years evidence, leaving the EU is extremely complex and not a simple matter at all.
