I completely agree. There is so much labor in our society that is fundamental to our health and well being, but is simply unpaid and even worse, unacknowledged. Do we really want to place every child in child care? At what cost? What about children with special needs? What about those who are chronically ill? Do we want to place every one with chronic illnesses in rehab facilities? These are just a few limited examples, but you are spot on. If one wants to make the argument that everyone must contribute to receive compensation that’s fine, but let’s value ALL labor accordingly.
