So I just started a new job. I am working as an admissons clerk for a non profit in charge of foreign exchange programs for high schools across the country. However I was hired partially because of the need for a change in the social media policy in the organization and what I could potentially bring to the table.
I understand that there are many people that do not understand the technique, let alone the power that social media has in the business world. That is magnified in the non-profit/NGO sector.
These are organizations that due to lack of funding and/or qualified personnel they are ending up with a 2005 digital footprint in a much different landscape.
The reason I am writing about this is because it is so easy for these organizations to take the message they have and change the content and the context (based on the platform) and be able to CRUSH the social media landscape. This is an untapped market for those who know what to do in this digital age. It may not be one that is going to buy you a new car, or one that will help you buy a football team (I am looking at you, @garyvee), but it certainly is one that will help you get your foot in the door, see some success and help a business grow far beyond their greatest expectations.
