One of those advancements we’re particularly excited about is Web 3, a new paradigm. As Chris Dixon recently highlighted, Web 3 combines the decentralized, community-governed ethos of Web 1 with the advanced, modern functionality of Web 2.
Web 3 is an internet that is verifiable, self-governing, decentralized, permissionless and robust. The interesting element of Web 3 is the alignment of network participants through a financial incentive, tokens. Tokens allow network participants to create, govern, and improve their respective networks, leading to ownership and control becoming more equitably distributed. Furthermore, with Web 3, the value of a network is realized from those who directly contribute to that network, addressing the core problem of Web 2, where a centralized entity traditionally accumulates value.
Although we are at the early underpinnings of Web 3, decentralized finance (DeFi) applications such as Compound, Aave, and Uniswap are unlocking open and accessible income-generating opportunities for all and, in the process rewarding early adopters of their platform with governance tokens. We’re also seeing explosive user growth and new economies in Web 3 games such as Axie Infinity and Yield Guild Games. We believe that these platforms will enable financial inclusion and allow participants to shape their future in ways that weren’t possible before.

Who We Are
Since 2016, the team has individually made over 100 investments as angels and have advised several projects across the landscape of Web3 innovation. Over the years, we have seen first-hand that simply launching a project was the least complicated part of the success equation. Although it has gotten easier to launch a project in today’s environment, we know the success of any project requires support beyond capital. We saw a growing need for investors who will also provide a hands-on approach to support builders along their journey.
