Relationships Foundations-Pastor Mishek Mbevi

In the previous Season we discovered biblical stewardship has to do with maximizing our God-given resources to the best of our ability, for His purposes and for His glory.

We also released that God owns everything, including our relationships with one another.

Every relationship that God brings our way is divine. It is ordained by God himself.

And so, when we apply biblical stewardship to our lives and the resources that God has put under our care, that must include

people–it must include relationships. So, we must rise up and see the fact that God is a God of relationships. And He cares about relationships.

In fact, God himself is a relationship. He is God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. The three exist and live in perfect relationship with each other. There has always been and always will be absolute love, joy, and peace within God.

In other words, the very essence of God is relational. Relationship is an essential quality of God. And that essence is imprinted in and on human beings because we are created in the God’s image — in His nature and character.

Furthermore, the three persons of the Trinity exist in the service of one another. The father loves and sends the Son, the Son loves and submits to the Father, the Father and the Son love and send the HolySpirit.

The Holy Spirit loves and glorifies the Father and the Son etcetera.

Listen to John 5:19–23

“…the Son can do nothing on his own initiative, but only what he sees the Father doing. For whatever the Father does, the Son does likewise. 5:20 For the Father loves the Son and shows him everything he does, and will show him greater deeds than these, so that you will be amazed. 5:21 For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, so also the Son gives life to whomever he wishes. 5:22 Furthermore, the Father does not judge anyone, but has assigned all judgment to the Son, 5:23 so that all people will honour the Son just as they honour the Father. The one who does not honour the Son does not honour the Father who sent him…”

16:12 “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. 13 When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. 14 He will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you. 15 All that the Father has is mine; therefore I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you.

Right there, you can see the kind of relationships that exists between the Father, the Son and the Spirit. And remember…As it is in heaven…so should it be here…on the earth.

God loves and cares about human relationships. Why, because He Himself is made-up of relationships. And we are in Him and He is in us. Together, we are His habitation. We are His temple. He cares about our being with one another. He cares about how we treat one another.
