Naked Labs 3D Scanner

I’ve just read Digital Trends review of the first 3D Body Scanner designed for everyday use at home. Naked Labs’ scanner, which launched in August, is significant as 3D Body Scanner technologies have the potential transform the health and fashion industries.

3D Body Scanners have the potential to transformation the health industry by offering a simple and accurate way to measure changes in body shape. It opens the doors to new business models (e.g. pay by results), greater personalisation and better data on the efficacy of diet and fitness regimes.

For the fashion industry, digitising our measurements is one half of the equation to easily finding clothes to fit first time. The other half of course is digitising clothes sizes. The benefits are improved customer shopping experience, reduced costs from fewer online returns and more accurate body data for design and manufacturing.

There are already commercial body scanners in the market. A couple of interesting ones are Styku which is designed to be used in gyms and mPort which has Pods in malls in Australia where anyone can get themselves measured.
