Snapchat IS Important!

There are plenty of points that can be discussed in regards to Snapchat, but this one point I’m going to discuss is one of the most essential (not just for Snapchat, but for any emerging platforms). And my point is this: Math doesn’t lie!

Yep, that’s it. So thanks a lot for reading.

What I mean is that companies are too damn scared of “wasting time” on emerging platforms in case “it doesn’t catch on” or them “not catching any traction”. While they’re looking at the short-sighted downside, the long-term upside is completely ignored. Let me briefly explain.

What if SocialMediaApp (some hypothetical app that seems to getting some attention) doesn’t catch on? I’m glad you got the downside of not getting customers figured out. Let me ask you another question though. What if it does get attention and you’re on there from the start, building a community? You have created a gateway drug to virality! The disproportionate ROI to spending time figuring out a potentially up-and-coming app has exponential upside. And if it doesn’t catch on? The only downside is a little bit of time. Are companies really willing to lose out on millions of potential customers because they don’t “feel like it’s worth it”…? Really!?

The math is simple. Downside is very limited. Upside is virtually unlimited!

Get your shit straight!
