New MacBook?

The rumour mill is in full swing as an update to the System Image Utility in a recent release of OS X Server indicates the availability of a new 12" MacBook, possibly before the end of April 2016.

If true, it’s most likely just a refresh of the internals of the MacBook, with an update to the Skylake chipset. I would doubt there would be any changes to the overall design as the original 12" MacBook is only a year old.

As you may know, I’ve had a love hate relationship with the 12" MacBook, and came pretty close to returning mine, solely due to the new keyboard. It took me months to get used to it but I soldiered on as I loved the form factor so much. Performance hasn’t really been an issue for me, but any boost in performance is most welcome.

I would imagine if the rumors are true, we’ll see a stealth release of the updated MacBook via a press release, and any newly designed MacBook Airs or Pros will make an appearance at WWDC in June.
