“The Dawg Pound” underwent a $350,000 refresh project in the Winter of 2019–2020. Flooring, racks, performance technology and office spaces we are all upgraded.

The Citadel is currently accepting applications for VOLUNTEER Strength & Conditioning (S&C) internship positions. Internship slots are availble:

  • Late May to Late July
  • Late August to Early December
  • Early January to Early May

Interns will gain practical experience working in a Division I S&C environment under the guidance of an approved CSCCa mentor and three Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialists.

Minimum requirements include CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications; an unwavering work ethic, a desire to become an industry professional, the ability to adjust to a demanding work schedule, and effective communication and leadership skills in a group setting.

Preferred qualifications include certification from a recognized governing body (NSCA, ACSM, USAW, CSCCa, etc.), previous intern or coaching experience, personal involvement in a competitive sport, and proficiency with computer productivity applications.

Responsibilities will include assisting with team training sessions, daily, weekly, and semester long professional development assignments, facility maintenance, and other tasks as designated by the S&C staff.

*Summer interns will mostly work with our upperclass football players but will also have involvement with our full basketball team and incoming football signees during the “Summer Bridge” program.

Former interns leading stations during the 2015 summer program. That year, our football team would go on to win its first Southern Conference championship in 25 years, the first of back-to-back titles.
