The Stunning Smash

A smash-edit. A Jedi-push. That thing where it’s like you tagged everyone at the same time.


A frantic smash-edit is distracting:

The player uselessly thrashing against the scene they’re editing.

The players that miss the looming smash like an elephant in the room.

Or a sweep-edit was already in progress, and now someone is alone on stage.

I can personally vouch that this last one is particularly embarrassing. Desperately waving your arms on an empty stage, hoping to haul the departing scene back to shore after a sweep…

A good smash-edit really is impressive:

The player comes into focus.

Their arms and hands rise with new energy as the other players notice.

Just when they get the attention of the house… their hands snap down.

As the moment hangs expectantly in the air, we return to earth as the set continues.
